The site intended for building is located in the center of Moscow, in Degtyarny Lane connecting two city roads - Tverskaya Street and Malaya Dmitrovka Street.
City regulations rigidly limited the number of storeys of the building. Requirements of the client - the Capital Group company were also strict - to have an office complex, modern, attractive to future tenants, situated in one of important places of the downtown of the capital.
The site is located between large-scale development of the beginning of the 20th century and the eight-storey slab of the “Minsk” hotel standing on Tverskaya Street. On the site there were the low-value two-storey historical houses whose scale characteristics we should like to keep in new building. It just determined the plastic structure of the complex as a step composition of two contrast volumes proportionally supplementing each other. The four-storey volume, standing on the frontal line of the lane, is close by the scale (colour of walls, proportions and character of filling of window openings, cornice) to historical environment. Six-storey volume has a setback from the frontal line and the line of the principal facade by terrace width over the 3rd storey and is designed in essentially different plastics. This technique enabled to free the lane from some feeling of narrow space.
