The architectural concept of the building is based on a combination of contrasting (in respect of architecture and materials) volumes, two-storeyed ones, which repeat dimensions of demolished historical buildings, and the main five- and six-storey volume with an even grid of vertical apertures. The main building has a setback, providing the insolation for the house on the opposite side. Multi-storey volume emphasizes by its compositionthe characteristic bend of Degtyarny Lane - a circle segment connecting two radial roads of the city - Tverskaya Street and Malaya Dmitrovka Street. The lower two-storey part of the building is faced with a natural stone, the principal front is plastered.
